To ensure your skins ability to heal optimally it is important to take note of the following points and plan your treatment accordingly.
The aftercare will be explained to you in detail at your appointment and individual requirements will be made clear, but please read through the following carefully so that you can prepare yourself for the treatment. Your aftercare will greatly affect your healed result, therefore it is vital that it is carefully adhered to.
Pre-Treatment
- Do not drink coffee, alcohol or energy drinks for 24 hours prior to treatment.
- Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen or vitamin E on the day of the treatment.
- Do not have intense sun exposure 3 days before the treatment.
- No waxing threading/threading 1 week before treatment.
- No tinting within two weeks of your treatment.
- Do not have botox in the area to be treated within two weeks of your treatment.
- Do not apply chemical peels retanols within 1cm of the area to be treated.
- No chemical peels, microdermabrasion, laser or any other intense treatments 2 weeks before your treatment.
- Do not have lash extensions within two weeks of your brow treatment.
- Do not use growth enhancement products such as Latisse, Revitabrow, Grande lash, one month prior to treatment.
- You cannot undergo cosmetic tattooing when pregnant or breast feeding.
- Roaccutane must be discontinued 6 months prior to treatment and after treatment.
- Wash your hair before treatment as you will have to take care not to get your brows wet while healing.
Post-Treatment
- 30 minutes after treatment the eyebrows should gently cleansed. This removes any plasma/ink that may have seeped onto the surface of the skin and prevents the formation of scabs. This must be repeated 3-5 times during the first day dependant on the time the treatment was done.
- After cleansing the brows apply a very thin layer of healing balm (which will be provided for you) with a cotton bud or clean finger. Continue to apply them balm over the next 7 days to stop the permanent makeup from drying out.
- DO NOT Touch, itch or pick the treatment area. If you pick at and flakes/scabs this will pull out the pigment.
- Try to sleep on your back for the first 7-10 nights. Sleeping on your side or front can result in excess swelling and disruption of the treatment area. Do not wear an eye mask if you have had your eyes or brows treated
- DO NOT get your brows wet for 10-14 days, until the top layer of skin has completely healed
- DO NOT allow the areas to become hot/sweaty as this will result in loss of definition and pigment. Keep showers cool and quick, don’t sunbathe and avoid the gym or the ink will spread slightly with your skin as it expands from the heat and the salt from your seat will cause excessive fading.
- DO NOT apply makeup or creams to the treated area for two weeks. SPF should be applied from two weeks after the treatment and till at least 6 weeks after the top up. Always use an SPF during sun exposure.
- Do not use growth enhancement products such as Latisse, Revitabrow, Grande lash, after treatment as it may shift your colour.
- You must always avoid anti-ageing creams containing rentin A/Retinol or exfoliating/skin renewal treatments such as chemical peels or microdermabrasion over the brows as these can cause the results to fade prematurely.
